Pittsford Pedestrian and Traffic Calming Plan

SRF & Associates was retained by the Village Trustees in Pittsford to develop a Comprehensive Traffic Calming Plan. The primary objective was to improve the quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors alike and specifically to improve the safety of pedestrians. The Traffic Calming Plan included an assessment of current traffic control and pedestrian safety devices and a charette-style public meeting. The study also included volume and speed data collection for the entire village. ArcGIS was used to pictorially demonstrate various traffic concerns as designated by the Village Trustees and residents including congestion, cut-throughs, gateway transition issues, and excessive speeds. Various alternatives such as roundabouts were recommended as well as other traffic calming measures at suitable locations.
