Safe Routes to School Site Assessments Genesee-Finger Lakes Region, New York Our firm was selected with Alta Planning + Design to study five (5) schools in the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. The five schools were located in urban, suburban, and rural settings. The purpose of the study was to perform site audits, walking assessments and meet with local representatives on the Safe Routes to School Steering committee to understand needs and challenges that face students walking/biking to school. SRF & Associates was responsible for site audits and preparing GIS base mapping for the Action Plans that were developed for each individual school campus included in this study. The final product was developed as a template for future school site assessments and for use in Genesee Transportation Council (GTC) Safe Routes to School guidebook.
